♥ To provide a warm welcome for visitors to Bannockburn and Stirling.
♥ To offer an outdoor historical walking tour at Bannockburn Battlefield and Stirling Bridge.
♥ To thank people for remembering our great heroes and wishing them safe passage onward.
Each tour remembers all those who fought and who gave their lives on both sides at Stirling Bridge, Bannockburn, and throughout the Wars of Independence. The battles fought in and around Stirling 700 years ago were crucial to the Scottish way of life.
Freedom Tour Today allows you to walk with Wallace and relive Bruce’s greatest victory! Today the sites are peaceful and calming places to walk around and learn about the characters that kept Scotland Alive! In the 700 years since the battles, Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn remain in the hearts, not just of local people, but of people from all over the world who love Scotland. Wherever you are from, you are welcome to come along and enjoy a walk around Bannockburn Battlefield or the Battle of Stirling Bridge.
In 2023, we donated (Less the cost of dry cleaning my kilt) the fees from all tickets sold on our Bannockburn Tour to the Robert the Bruce Heritage Centre in Renton. This will help support their work in remembrance of our Greatest King. We shall also donate the fees from all tickets sold at Stirling Bridge to the Guardians of Scotland Trust to help build a lasting memorial sculpture to William Wallace and Andrew De Moray. Thank you.
If you don’t join us on your journey this time, you are most welcome next visit.
Thank you and safe passage onward.
Yours Aye,
Steven & Molly.
As the tours have developed, we are proud that we are also sharing our learning with friends from the Strathleven Artizans, The Society of John De Graeme, and the Society of William Wallace. We are happy to support others in creating a welcoming environment for those seeking to discover and learn about our History and our Heroes. We also offer thanks for their knowledge, kindness, and friendship which has helped develop and inform our tours.
I am a Fifer who lived in Bannockburn for 23 years but recently moved to Stirling. I have a keen interest in Scottish history and a desire to give everyone a warm welcome. I will be sure to entertain you with stories of the main characters and the small folk who influenced and took part in the Battle of Bannockburn. Molly and I walk at the Battlefield most days and it amazes me the number of visitors who spend less than 15 minutes at this Historic site. Rescuing Molly from the Dogs Trust in 2017 is the real inspiration behind Freedom Tour Today after the Battlefield at Bannockburn became Molly’s favourite place in the world.
Chatting with tourists on days off, it amazes me that many of them have never heard of William Wallace’s greatest victory at Stirling Bridge. Freedom Tour Today is the perfect way for me to welcome visitors to Bannockburn and Stirling and learn more about why so many people are passionate about Scotland.
Each tour will cover the key factors that lead up to the battles, the main characters, the battles themselves, the aftermath, and the importance of the victory, then and now. I’m also very happy to spend time chatting and answering questions about the battles, the sites, and future developments in and around Bannockburn and Stirling, or simply great places to visit, eat or enjoy a beer in the local area. Please do ask questions. Whether you are here for the day, a week, or stay fairly local – you are all welcome.
Lastly, thank you for choosing Bannockburn, Stirling, and Scotland as your home or your holiday destination. If you are on a budget and money is a bit tight, please get in touch. We can look at a solution where you can donate any shortfall to one of our chosen charities when you are in a position to do so. Join Molly and me and we shall enjoy a Bannockburn/Stirling day to remember.
